From Heroin to Healer

A disciplined memoir of addiction, responsibility, spiritual integration, and the long path of rebuilding a life.

Why This Book Matters

From Heroin to Healer documents the lived experience that ultimately shaped the founding of Awakened Hearts Organization. It is not a story of identity in recovery, but of full responsibility, disciplined healing, and personal leadership. The book serves as both memoir and practical reflection on transformation — exploring addiction, fatherhood, spirituality, and the responsibility required to rebuild a life.

Writer Story

After surviving heroin addiction in 2006, Jesse began the long process of rebuilding his life from the inside out. Addiction had stripped away illusions and exposed deeper wounds. Disconnection, dysregulation, and avoidance. Through disciplined healing, nervous system work, and sustained personal responsibility, he learned that transformation must be structured to be sustainable. Awakened Hearts Organization was born from that lived understanding in 2020.

AHO exists to help people build lives rooted in clarity, resilience, and meaningful connection. We believe healing is not an identity — it is a process that can lead to full restoration, strength, and contribution.

"Jesse’s story touched me deeply.

Not just because of the heartbreaking loss of his daughter, Alana.
Not because of his father’s addiction.
Not because of his mother’s narcissism, anxiety, or the pain she carried.
Not for the suffering of his sister, or his own wounded childhood.
Not for the tears he never shed, or the brutal cold of Boston.
Not even the fire that nearly took his life.

What moved me most was the transformation — his journey from fire to healing.

His mind, spirit, and body were reborn in Peru, guided by the magic of the medicine.

What touched me was who he became: free, light, unmasked, authentic and so courageous.
A man of unwavering spirituality, deeply reconnected to meaning and significance.

This is a story that deserves to be told and shared.
It is humbling, inspiring, and profoundly human.
Above all, it carries a message of love, not resentment; light, not darkness; hope, not despair; freedom, not bondage; trust, not betrayal."
